Ruth Anne Mlsna, age 90, of Williamsburg passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 24, 1920 in Pontiac to Hiram and Kathryn (Boyd) Claypool. She grew up in Pontiac and attended St. Fredrick’s Catholic School before the Great Depression forced her parents to return to their ancestral home in Williamsburg. Ruth then graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School in Traverse City in 1938. While living and working in Traverse City she met Charles Mlsna from Cashton, Wisconsin and they were married on August 9, 1941. During the early years of their marriage, Chuck and Ruth lived in Pontiac where they had the first 2 of their 6 daughters. At the end of WWII they moved back north to Traverse City, where 2 more daughters were born. Eventually they bought a home and property in Williamsburg and added 2 more daughters to their family of 6 girls. Chuck and Ruth would remain in Williamsburg for the rest of their lives. Ruth retired from T.C.A.P.S. in 1989 as the Food Service Director. Throughout her life, Ruth’s faith would be tested many times, but each trial only made her stronger. Ruth loved to read and passed that hobby down to her children and grandchildren. Ruth also enjoyed her family, dancing, and crossword puzzles. In July of 2010, Ruth’s large family gathered together to celebrate her 90th birthday with a surprise party involving all things Irish, Ruth was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Ruth is survived by her 6 daughters: Anne Lautner of Traverse City, Margaret Treadwell of Troy, Catherine Gee of Williamsburg, Carol George of Williamsburg, Marilyn (Jim) Mills of Lake Ann, Patricia (Michael) Curry of Omaha, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren: Kimberly, Chad, Lisa, Nancy, Jodi, Amy, Tom, Megan, Elizabeth, Josh, Nathan, Cam, Mick, Sarah, Katie, Ben, and Scott; 21 Great Grandchildren and one due in August; and her nieces Marilyn Shadwell also survives her.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Karin Boyd and Nurse Patti for their kindness and attention to Ruth in her final days.
