Betty Spain

Betty Whitaker Spain of Tucker passed away peacefully on February 23, 2018. She was born to the late David and Elah Mae Whitaker on October 13, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Fred Spain; brothers, Dan Whitaker, King Whitaker, Ben Whitaker, and Walter Whitaker and sisters; Johnnie Mae Townley, Dot McWilliams, Elah Doak, and Carolyn Fortenberry. Betty is survived by her sons Mark Spain and his wife, Judy, of Tucker; David Spain and his wife, Lulu, of Tucker; her daughter, Robin Whitworth and husband, Pat, of Suwanee; granddaughter, Lauren Ley and husband, Thomas, of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Kinsey and Austin Ley; and many loving nieces and nephews. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was always caring for others. Betty and her husband Fred were charter members of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Stone Mountain Ga. Betty taught Sunday school, kept the nursery with Fred, was very active in Circle, and received a lifetime membership for women of the church. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 26 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Floral Hills Funeral Home 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy. Tucker, Ga. 30084 A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church 5140 Memorial Drive Stone Mountain, Ga. 30083. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
