October 4, 1943 – August 4, 2025
After receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis, Carol chose to live her best life till she could no longer. She bravely faced each day with gratitude for the kind, capable and compassionate care she was given and felt surrounded by the love of family and friends.
When Carol graduated high school in 1962 her choices were limited; either become a nun or get married. She chose the latter and, despite restrictions on women in her generation, she lived an active and exciting life alongside her devoted husband Pat.
Carol was a talented artist and a voracious reader. She loved thrillers, the scarier the better!
She loved going to the movies and Turner Classic Movies became her favorite cable channel. Carol also loved TV game shows and even went to California to be a contestant on Bob Barker’s The Price Is Right.
As you know, Carol was a fun-loving gal! From NY to NJ to FL she and husband Pat lived life to the fullest. Carol loved dinners out, dancing, trips to the casino, time with friends singing and drinking at their favorite Irish Pubs, playing cards (31), bowling with the “Lady Popers” and cherished time laughing with family.
Carol and Pat took many great trips including a memorable anniversary trip to Hawaii, a few treasured trips to Ireland and many road trips in Pat’s newest Prius visiting National Parks that happened to be near casinos.
Carol and Pat enjoyed nearly 50 years in South Florida living each day like it was a vacation day in paradise. Fond family memories include countless trips to the ocean, picnics at the beach and night swims in the pool. Over the years, Carol and Pat hosted many fun parties and loved opening their home for such occasions. Carol made life great and the holidays special for both her children and her grandchildren whom she adored.
Carol is survived by her daughter Debbie (husband Jud), son Patrick (wife Theresa) and five grandchildren Jeremy (wife Jill), John Patrick, Joseph, Grace and Bridget. She is preceded in death by her husband Pasquale Perrotta, her father Thomas John Barkey and her mother Florence Johanna Lentz Barkey.
Carol will be inurned at the Boca Raton Cemetery and Mausoleum in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass of Harp while listening to Irish music, laughing and telling stories with your friends and family close by.
