October 24, 1930 – April 22, 2026
Carolyn Rodriguez, age 95, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by love at home. Born on October 24, 1930, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of Ernie and Bessie King. They raised their family next door to the Atlantic Steel Plant (now Atlantic Station) and they lived for many years. She was married to Jerome Rodriguez in May 1955 and they were married for 38 years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband(1993), parents, her brother, Buddy King, and her sister, Jimmie Lee King.
She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Christal Saviers(Dave Thorsheim), Ginger Rodriguez(Johnny Sharpless), and Susie Fiorello Bucci (Greg Bucci), her five grandchildren Jennifer Garthe (Riva Christensen), Stephanie Riley (Dustin Riley), Mallery Bryan (Dale Bryan), Michael Fiorello and Kaylee Levidiotis(Ken Valley) and her great grandchildren Natalie Rose Levidiotis and Smith Valley along with many extended family members and all whose lives she touched.
Carolyn spent most of her life in Decatur, Georgia, where she raised her family and built a life centered on faith, love, and community. She was a devoted member of Rehoboth Baptist Church, where she and her family were faithfully present for many years every Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night, yes practically every time the doors were open. Those years were filled with cherished memories, especially growing up in the close-knit neighborhood on Coolwater Court and with the Shamrock High School community friends.
She was a dedicated lifelong Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching the games with the family. Her time was focused on her family as she was at every dance recital, ballgame, beauty pageant or any event her kids and grandkids participated in as their biggest cheerleader. You could always count on her being there. Birthdays were a huge priority for her and she made sure we all had a fun party and awesome cake, a lot of times at the pool on Coolwater.
Professionally, Carolyn served as an executive assistant, bringing dedication and grace to her work. She could type faster than anyone you’ve ever seen! Yet, she may be best remembered for her gift with children—lovingly known as a “child whisperer.” She nurtured and cared for countless little ones through nursery programs and Mother’s Morning Out at Rehoboth Baptist Church and Mountain Park First Baptist Church for over 25 years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of families.
Above all, Carolyn loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. Her unwavering faith guided her life and was evident in her strong will, work ethic and servant’s heart.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
