Dennis Raymond Fong
June 13, 1957 – May 11, 2024
Dennis Fong, beloved husband and devoted father, passed away from cancer on May 11, 2024, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Ruey-Ju Lee Fong, who stood by his side with unwavering dedication throughout their journey together. Dennis was a loving father to his two daughters, Linda and Lauren, who were his pride and joy. He spent every moment caring for his family and creating a home filled with happiness. He leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and passion that will be forever cherished by his family and friends.
Born to Albert and Alice Fong in Yonkers, NY, Dennis mischievously grew up alongside his brothers Bill, Michael, and Gary. Their bond was unbreakable—filled with treasured memories, outrageous laughter, and endless support. In his teens, he moved to Atlanta, GA with his family and remained there after graduating from Georgia State University. Dennis’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those closest to him that will be felt deeply.
Amongst his passions, Dennis found immense joy in the sport of cycling. His brother Michael bought him his first road bike. Riding in various groups across Metro Atlanta for nearly 30 years, he found comradery in riding with his PC3 cycling friends. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, watching the Tour de France with his daughters every year and bringing them along on group rides.
Dennis built a career in IT as a data architect, spending more than 14 years working for AT&T. His work ethic and loyal relationships made him a valued senior employee. For many years, he even commuted by bike to the AT&T offices in downtown Atlanta!
He also took tremendous pride in his handiwork. Dennis could fix anything! He built the entire basement of his home in Alpharetta, GA. After years of blood, sweat, and tears, he painted it pink for his wife Ruey-Ju. He also loved listening to the Grateful Dead, camping outdoors, and fishing with his children.
When news of cancer came knocking, Dennis embraced life with unwavering strength and resilience. He never let treatments get in the way of living his life to the fullest. His uplifting spirit led him to contribute significantly to the advancement of medical science, as he paved the way for new cancer therapies. His fight against cancer serves as a beacon of hope and progress.
Dennis Fong’s life was a testament to love, courage, and perseverance. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness, humor, and steadfast determination. While we mourn his loss, we hope his pain has passed, and we celebrate the profound impact that he had on all who knew him.
