Doris Marie Patterson

Doris Marie Cadenhead Patterson, 87, of Decatur, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. She was one of 3 children born to Minnie America and James L. Cadenhead. Doris was married years to the late Joe A Patterson, Sr., who died December 27, 2006. She had one son, Alan Scott Patterson, who passed away at the age of 17. She is survived by three children, Joe A Patterson, Jr (Kathy) of Commerce, GA; Donna Redford (Stan), of Hillsborough, NC; Ginger Henry of Cumming, GA.; Nine Grandchildren; Andrea (Michael) Blackburn, Joseph (Andrew) Nunn, Justin (Aranda) Nunn, Jennifer (Josh) Williamson, Hannah Ingram, Austin Patterson, Nathan (Amanda) Redford, Kimberly Redford, and Shelby Henry; Ten Great Grandchildren – Gavin, Jared and Will Blackburn, Lenzia and Bodee Nunn, Hudson, Knox, and Hollis Williamson, Weslyn Grace and Walker Ingram. Also, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews, whom she loved very much, Doris was a member of Valley Brook Baptist Church, Decatur, GA. She graduated from Southern Business College and worked at the State Capitol of Georgia until she started having children. She later went back to work and retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Atlanta, GA. Doris loved her church, reading, family vacations, and spending time with her family and friends. Funeral services will be Friday September 30, 2016 at Valley Brook Baptist Church, 1198 North Valley Brook Rd Decatur Ga 30033 with Pastor Mike Roper officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Patterson will be laid to rest between her husband and son Scott at Floral Hills Cemetery. Donations can be made in Doris’ memory to Gentiva Hospice of Decatur or Valley Brook Baptist Church.
