Edgar A. Kent

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Edgar Kent age 88 of Decatur, GA passed away November 9, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Edgar was a veteran of the US Navy. Graduated Auburn University. Edgar built his career in the Atlanta area in commercial construction. He was longtime member of University Heights United Methodist Church. Also a member of the Rehoboth and Tucker Lions Club. He spent many years as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader with his four sons.

Edgar leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Norma, sons Joseph (Carol), Paul (Linda), Matt (Sarah) and Phillip. Grandchildren Stephen Kent, Jennifer Kent, Chris Kent, Holly Kent, Kelly Kent Frye and Daniel Kent. Great grandchildren Lily Kent, Ryan Frye, Liam Frye and Collin Frye. Edgar’s greatest joys were his family and church. His faith, kindness and undying love will guide and unite us forever.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday November 12 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at University Heights United Methodist Church, 1267 Balsam Drive, Decatur 30033. Followed by funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Garden, Tucker, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his beloved Church University Heights UMC.
