Evelyn attended Clarkston High School and married her high school sweetheart. She then had a fulfilling career as a Financial Analyst with the IRS for over 30 years. Evelyn was known for her dedication and
expertise in her field and continued using her skills even after her retirement.
Evelyn was a beloved wife of 58 years to Michael B. Thomas and a devoted mother to her son,
William H. Thomas, and daughters Michele R. Lewis and Lisa T. Gilbert. She cherished her role as
a grandmother to 8 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 2 great-grandchildren. Evelyn had
a close bond with her sisters, Lydia McCook, Quette Godfree and Brenda Witherington as well
as her brother Gary Fisher. She was also loved by her 12 nieces and nephews, many other
extended family members, and countless others she considered family.
In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed singing and listening to music, reading, playing games, traveling,
camping, walking, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a faithful follower of
Jesus and shared His love with all. Evelyn worshipped at First Baptist Church of Tucker for nearly
60 years, where she also assisted in the children and youth ministries, sang in the choir, and
served as deacon.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research
Foundation or Emory Winship Cancer Institute in memory of Evelyn.
Please join us in celebrating Evelyn's life and honoring her memory. She will be deeply missed
by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Service (no black attire, please) will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024,
