

Hans Jan Andringa, renowned Dutch pediatric dentist and researcher, passed away on August 23, 2024. Born on June 5, 1946, in The Hague, The Netherlands, he was the cherished son of Jan de Haas and Johannah Andringa.
A dedicated professional, Hans obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Free University Netherlands in 1977, followed by a Master of Science in Oral Biology in 1987 and a Doctor of Medical Dentistry in 1989 from the Medical College of Georgia. He practiced dentistry in both The Netherlands and Germany before relocating to the United States in 1983, where he continued to make impactful contributions to the dental field.
In addition to his impressive professional achievements, Hans served as a Captain in the Netherlands Army from 1969 to 1970. He was an active participant in numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Society for Dentistry for Children, the Georgia Dental Association, and the International Association for Dental Research.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Hans had a deep passion for scuba diving, skiing, skating, photography, bicycling, swimming, and running - interests that reflected his zest for life and adventure. His enthusiasm for his work and hobbies greatly enriched the lives of those around him.
Hans was preceded in death by his parents, Jan de Haas and Johannah Andringa and his sister Anja de Haas. He is survived by his children, Lara (Matt) Sullivan and Twayn Randall (Lori) Andringa; grandchildren Hunter, Roselyn, and Emmalise; and sisters Marijke Bakker (Alan), Sonja Bakker, and Nel Flipse-de Haas.
Hans will be fondly remembered for his steadfast dedication to his profession and the many lives he positively influenced throughout his remarkable journey.
