

James Robert Allison, 89, of Decatur died Sunday, March 10. Mr. Allison was born in Bairdstown, Georgia, he was the son of the late Homer Roe Allison and Ada Ruth Young Allison. He was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church in Stone Mountain for over 50 years. He retired from Lockheed Martin after 36 years. He was an army veteran of WWII (45th Infantry Division) where he fought in Battle of the Bulge, liberated Dachau and also was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include his daughter, Robyn Allison Hornsby and son-in-law Harry, grandson, William Thomas Hornsby; brother, Alsa Allison of Adairsville; sister, Lola Greene of Cartersville and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Winnie Casper Allison of 51 years, a brother, John L. Allison and sister Louise Caldwell. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 pm; Dr. Bill Gordon will be officiating. Pallbearers include: Mark Allison, Douglas Caldwell ,Richard Greene, Ronald Casper, Gregg Hunter, Zeb Lackey, Randy Smith and Roy Marshal Smith, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' memory to the Bairds Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Indian Creek Baptist Church, Stone Mountain.
