James Walton Nall left for his heavenly home on September 15, 2024. He was born to Elizabeth Merritt and Andrew Walton Nall on May 4, 1937, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Patterson Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Baldwin Nall, brother Andrew Merritt Nall (Debbie) children Betty Anne Nall (Gaylon Lester), James Michael Nall (Linda), Grandchildren Nathan Michael Nall (Patricia), Matthew Walton Nall, Autumn Elizabeth Lester Pettit (Nicholas), great grandchild Nicholas Nall as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Decatur High School and attended Georgia Tech and Southern Tech, followed by a long and fulfilling career as a home builder, developer, and real estate broker. He was a long-standing member of Lawrenceville Road UMC where he served on its board of trustees. He proudly served as Staff Sergeant and flight engineer in the US Airforce Reserves, 1974 Chairman of the DeKalb Chapter of the Home Builders Association of Metro Atlanta, 1979-1981 President of the Realty World Atlanta Brokers Council, an Emeritus member of the DeKalb Board of Realtors, a long time member of the Tucker Lions Club and a member of the Tuesday morning Tucker Chick Fil-A breakfast club.
Jim loved history, storytelling, fixing things, helping people and teaching others. He was happiest when gathering with family and friends at the family’s home at Lake Burton. He will be greatly missed but left us all with wonderful memories.
A Celebration of his life will take place on October 6, 2024 at 3 pm at the Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church located at 3142 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker GA 30084.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church in Tucker
