
John Wesley Eaton, 48, died at his home in Lilburn, Georgia on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 of complications from Pneumonia and COPD. John was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 9th, 1966. John along with his twin sisters Tamela and Pamela were adopted by Loren and Virginia Whittier Eaton and raised in Belfast, Maine, He has relatives in both Maine and Oklahoma.
John had many occupations over his short life, including being a long haul truck driver for many years, he also lived and worked in Alaska. In 2007, John along with his fiancé, Roxanne Watkins-Wilharm who were living in Savannah, GA were involved in a tragic auto accident. John became paralyzed from a spinal cord injury and Roxanne was killed.
Although struggling with the loss of Roxanne and his physical ailments, John was very proud to buy his own home in 2011, and just recently a handicap accessible van, which allowed him to ride shot gun. An experience he had not been able to enjoy since his accident. John went on annual cruises and loved to travel. In April, prior to his death, John and friend Dena Grass cruised on Carnival Cruise line for 8 days.
John loved all dogs, but especially “Manny” his “60lb lap” dog. He also loved a nice cigar, Bloody Mary’s and being able to sit on his deck watching birds. He loved classic rock, poker games, electronics, and the fishing and cooking channel.
John is survived by his sisters Pamela Eaton Sellers, her husband Jeff and daughter Allison of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Tamela Eaton Grant of Mississippi. John is also survived by many very special people including Jo-Ann, Cathy, Carrie, Tasha, Michelle and most recently Dena Grass. Thanks to facebook, Dena and John who had gone to school together were able to re-connect with Dena moving south to be with John. Dena and John developed a special relationship and shared many laughs and fun times in the short time they had together. Dena stayed by his side until the very end. John requested no service but that his remains be scattered on Tybee Island for a private burial at sea. Arrangements are being done by Floral Funeral home.
