

She was born to the late B.A. and Margaret Kesler in Atlanta, GA on May 17, 1943. Joyce received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Brenau University and later earned her Master’s in Education from Piedmont College. She married Charles Hunt and said often that he was “God’s gift” to her.
Joyce was a music teacher in both DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties and was passionate about sharing her love of music with children, including her own. Over the years, she worked at Eastminster Presbyterian Church as the preschool music teacher and served at Tucker United Methodist Church as the children’s choir director and youth choir accompanist. She was also President of the Atlanta Area Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association from 2000-2002
Joyce loved roller coasters, musicals and British comedies. She is survived by her husband, Charles, and their four children: Andrea (Ken) Tyree of White, GA; Alison Hunt of Brooklyn, NY; Kendall (Alison) Hunt of Jacksonville, FL; and Ashley (Seth) Martin of Lancaster, KY. She is also survived by three siblings: Gary (Kay) Kesler of Gainesville, GA; Phillip (Marjorie) Kesler of Gainesville; and Susan (Benny) Reed of Hawkinsville, GA. Joyce loved being Mimi to her five grandchildren: Jesse (Jensen) Walter, Justin Walter, Jared Walter, Lyla Martin and Rex Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to The Vasculitis Foundation.
Joyce’s life will be celebrated at a viewing on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home and at her funeral on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at The Chapel at Perimeter Church. The burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, GA.
