Linda graduated from Canastota High School in 1959 and moved to Georgia in 1976. She dedicated more than 20 years of service to Catholic education, including many years at St. Pius X Catholic High School, and later continued her work with the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta. Her Catholic faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted longtime member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. Eugene Whitmeyer, who passed away in March 2016.
She is survived by her children, Karen Eaton (Terry) of Newnan, GA, Alan Whitmeyer (Sheri) of Boston, MA, Mary Whitmeyer of Newnan, GA, Chris Shuler (Susan) of Carrollton, GA, Lorrie Smith (Jason) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Diane Henderson (Paul) of Snellville, GA, her brother and sister-in-law, Ret. M/Sgt. James Hertel and Darlene Hertel, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
Linda will be remembered for her quiet strength, steadfast faith, and deep devotion to her family. Her compassion, warmth, and steady presence touched many lives, and her legacy will continue in all who knew and loved her.
