Malcolm Xavier Mills was born in Philadelphia on March 1,1994, to Nichole and Casper Mills, and was the youngest of 4 children. He grew up in Jacksonville, New York, Orlando, and Atlanta, but no matter where he was, he was adored by all.
Bright grey eyes, thick blond hair, a smile like a warm hug, and a personality that put everyone at ease. Incredibly friendly and welcoming. He was just a nice guy! Whether it is a former teacher remembering how nice he was, a friend talking about how easy he was to talk to, or a family member remembering how tight and genuine his hugs were, the effect Malcolm had on people is clear.
Despite some medical challenges starting at a young age, Malcolm loved to explore and create. As a kid, he played in Little League Baseball and Pee-Wee Football. He loved drawing and art. More than art, he loved to write, and would craft really mature, interesting adventures around a character that he called "Lenny".
The name "Lenny" came from guitarist "Lenny Kravitz", which was one of Malcolm's favorites. His taste in music could be described as "eclectic". From AC/DC to Earth, Wind, and Fire, Malcolm was always open to hear something new . And as much as he enjoyed music, he loved video games. Whether it was a First person shooter game with his sister, a dance game with his older brother, a spy thriller video game with his oldest brother, or just a two person fighting game with anybody, he was always up for a good round of gaming.
As a young man, Malcolm began to really ask some tough questions, and explore some deeper, philosophical issues; Religion, God, Existence, The Universe, Soul, Humanity, Purpose, Faith. Love.
He understood that he didn't have all of the answers, nor did anyone else, but he understood that part of life was about figuring it out.
Right now, there are a lot of questions. There is a lot that we don't know. There is even more that we'll never know or understand. But what we do know is that we feel a deep Love for Malcolm, and an incredible gratitude for his presence in our lives and the time that we got with him.
And I think that's the moral of the story. Love and Gratitude.
