He was born in Patras, Greece the son of the late Kostandinos and Theodora Athanasiou.
A musician by trade and a member of the Greek Cathedral of the Annunciation, Atlanta, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Markos; his children, Dionysia "Beba" Gatsinos, Tonia (John) Drysdale, Kosta (Anna) Athanasiou, Nick (Panagiota) Athanasiou, Bill (Briana) Markos; his brothers, Thanasis Athanasiou and Theofilos Athanasiou; grandchildren, Stavroula, Peter, Stevie, Maria, Stacey, Brian, Chris, Morgan, Logan, Nina, and Athina.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George Athanasiou.
Funeral services at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Friday December 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 6-9 pm with the Trisagion Service at 7 pm.
