Pat is survived by her husband, Jack Sartain, her daughter Ansley Sartain Barnett (Jimmy) of Augusta, GA, her grandson Patrick Barnett (Alyssa) of Burgin, KY, her grandson Andrew Barnett (Charis) of Augusta, GA. Pat is also survived by her brother Charles Livsey (Teena) of Union Point, VA.,her loving aunt Annette Livsey Merritt, her niece Angela Walker Cooper (Tom) of CA, her nephew Chuck Livsey (Denise) of Colorado, and neice Monique (Jabar) of Kuwait and several great nieces & nephews as well as many cousins who all loved her dearly. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Joe Tom Livsey, her stepfather, Roy Wade, her mother, Avis Chewning Livsey Wade, and her grandson, Matthew James Barnett.
Pat was born and raised in Stone Mountain, GA and attended Stone Mountain High School where she was a cheerleader and awarded the Atlanta Journal Cup. She went on to attend Georgia State University where she earned a BA degree and also her MBA . She began working in the alumni office during school and went on to serve as Alumni Director at Georgia State for 36 years. Upon her retirement, she was named Alumni Director of Emerita in recognition for her service to the University.
Pat was proud of her daughter, Ansley, and Pat served in advisement capacities where possible whether it be “dance mom”, piano mom, band booster, youth choir chaperone, Board of Counselors of Oxford College of Emory University, Parent Board of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
She was also very proud of her grandsons Patrick & Andrew and their many accomplishments during their childhood and teenage years. She was quick to support both of them as “band grandma”, “orchestra grandma”, “soccer grandma”, and anything else that they did.
Pat was always willing to help others. She helped to take care of her father in law during his last days as they moved him into their Stone Mountain home and she also later moved her mother into her home and cared for her for several years until her death.
Pat served her community through her participation in her “Red Hat Society”, and Stone Mountain Woman’s Club. She also served the Lord through many committees at Lawrenceville Road UMC as well as singing in the chancel choir and the Sartain Kinfolks. She alsoserved the DeKalb Council for the Arts, Phi Chi Theta, Sigma Iota Epsilon, Mortar Board.
Pat’s hobbies included reading, gardening, flower arranging, and supporting her daughter and especially her grandsons in anything they were participating in.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5-8pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Tucker, GA and her celebration of life and homegoing will be Friday, September 24, 2021 at 2 pm at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church in Tucker, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Encore Music Lending Library at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church.
