Robert Walter Foernsler passed on Sunday, December 18th, 2022, at the age of 90 years. He was a native New Yorker, born in Richmond Hill NY. Bob and Jessie met after High School in Freeport Long Island, married, and started their journey over the next 66 years full of traveling, dancing, and an occasional party! A veteran of the Korean war, Bob graduated from Hofstra University in 1963 and worked in NYC in the insurance industry until he got transferred to Tucker Georgia in 1974, where he and his wife Jessie resided and raised their three children. Bob started a long successful career at Yates Insurance Agency as Vice President Operations, and he was truly blessed to work there and always talked about the wonderful friends and experiences (golf and trips) he had until he retired at the age of 83. As wonderful as all this was, nothing compared to the joy of being a dad and Grandpa and Bob fully embraced both. As a dad he loved coaching his sons in baseball and never missed an opportunity to play catch or hit ground balls after work. Once his baby girl came along, he was always at her soccer games cheering her on and enjoying golf every weekend, weather permitting, with his friends and boys. His favorite course he played was Augusta National, but his favorite golf foursome was when he was 83 with his grandson Stephen and sons Keith and Scott. The definition of Grandpa fit Bob to a tee. He never missed a dance recital, choral concert, graduation, baseball game, or golf tournament and was his grandkid’s biggest fan. Win or lose he was always there telling them how proud he was of them.
He will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Jessie, son Keith, son and daughter-in law, Scott and Miranda, daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Rob, and his precious grandchildren: Peyton, Stephen, and Haley. He will be remembered for his love of his family and friends, golfing on Saturdays with his buddies, and being a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00PM on January 14th, 2023, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to The Wounded Warriors Project at: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
