Wayne Nelson Payton was born on January 30, 1949 to Lois Reeves and W. Nelson Payton in Decatur, GA. The Lord called him home on February 10, 2025 with his wife of 55 years Judy Bramlett Payton by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Anthony. He leaves behind his wife Judy; daughter Karri Williams (Joe Meadows) and their sons; son Wesley Payton (Rebecca Thompson) and their sons; son Matthew Payton and many other family members and friends.
Wayne and Judy met at a young age and built a blessed life together. Wayne was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a brick mason by trade, enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and coaching baseball and softball. After retirement, he enjoyed trips to the beach with Judy and watching his grandsons grow up. He leaves behind a legacy of his love for the Lord and his family, a strong work ethic, and enjoying sports like baseball, hunting, fishing, nascar and football.
Family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 from 1:00-3:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm with graveside service following. Wesley Payton officiating.
