

William Edward Kapke Jr. (Bill) was born in Miami, Florida on September 20, 1947, to William Edward and Virginia Burbidge Kapke.
He is survived by his wife Judy Kapke, daughter Lisa Kapke Wallace, son William (Brandy) Kapke lll, and stepson Andrew Jackson Kapke. He also leaves behind his brother Quentin Wayne Kapke and many cousins in Connecticut.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Christina Losavio Kapke, his parents, and his sister Barbara Kapke.
Bill grew up in Southington, Connecticut where he graduated high school in 1965. A stock car racing enthusiast, he could be found on Friday and Saturday nights at the Plainville Stadium races where his dad drove Car “J11.” Years later, Bill raced mini stock cars in Barberville, Florida.
After serving 4 years in the United States Navy, he moved to South Florida.
He married Christina in 1968, and they were blessed with two children. They moved to DeLand, Florida in 1980.
He met Judy Jackson, his wife of 36 years in 1989 and they married in 1990. They found joy ballroom dancing, drawing, painting, gardening and cruising. A talented potter and accomplished artist, he delighted in making things. His artistic nature was showcased in his terraced flower garden with its fishpond, birdhouses, and steppingstones
After 35 years and retirement from Bell South, he obtained a pharmacy certification and worked at a local radio station in commercials and show production. He also enjoyed viewing sports and westerns.
Bill loved church and volunteering at the church thrift store. His faith remained steadfast.
On Friday April 10th at 2pm, we will gather for a Celebration of Life in The Chapel at Laurel Grove in Lawrenceville, Georgia
A graveside service with military honors will be held at DeLand Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 17th at 10:30 am. A Banquet for family and friends will follow at First Assembly DeLand Church in DeLand, Florida
