

Ada Grey Huffman passed away on September 15, 2013 at the age of 91. Ada is survived by her daughter Dr. Roseanne Lopez, granddaughter Ashley Diana Lopez, nephews Walter Hewitt, William Hewitt, William H Hewitt and nieces Kathy Lee Juell and Valleri Lacore, stepchildren Pam Garrison (Gary), Alicia Shell, Tom Huffman (Linda), Kirby Huffman, Brent Huffman (Nancy). She is preceded in death by her mother Foy Lee Hewitt and her father Walter Hewitt, husband Fred D. Huffman and brothers Walter Hewitt and William K Hewitt. Ada came to Tucson from New Jersey with her family in 1947 and learned to make adobe blocks using local materials. Ada and her family build their own home from the ground up. Ada lived in this home until about six years ago when she could no longer live alone. Ada was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for many years where she was a member of the choir and served as the financial secretary. She was also a member of the Sunnyside Seniors Club, and United Daughters of the Confederacy (U.D.C.). Ada was an avid reader, loved genealogy, wrote short poems, loved to sew, crochet and embroider. Ada worked as an instructional aide for Sunnyside School District at Liberty Elementary School and Los Ninos Elementary School for over 25 years and retired in 1987. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers from Asterion and Accessible for making mom’s last days and years more comfortable. Funeral Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 11:00 with a funeral service at 1:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn 5401 S Park Ave Tucson, AZ 85706 with graveside to follow.
