Albert Corona, 71, of Tucson, Arizona, entered eternal rest on December 10, 2025, and surrounded by his loved ones. Al was a beloved, devoted husband, loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was the youngest of seven children. Al will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by his only son, Albert Manuel Jose Corona; father and mother, Conrado and Anna Corona, and sister Angie Corona. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Yolanda Corona; brothers, Joe (JennyLynn) Corona and Manny (Theresa) Corona; sisters, Connie Villegas, Rosita Putman, and Virginia Corona; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Al was a man of strong character and resolve to all who knew him. He had the awesome ability to embrace you with a single look or wise remark that had the ability of grabbing your attention. Honestly, babies would often take notice of Al and gaze at him with deep admiration. It was truly a funny thing to watch. Those who knew him were bound to raise an ear and listen intently to what he had to say. Al loved to engage with people and took the time to hear what they had to say. He valued the close and lasting friendships he had with his work buddies and would spend hours reminiscing the past. Ultimately, Al was a funny, engaging and entertaining guy.
Throughout his 45 year career with Safeway and Sprouts Farmer’s Market, Al proved to be a talented, respected, and charismatic leader who took pride in serving the public. He had an even greater pride working along side and ultimately training his fellow meat cutters within the grocery business. Al was dedicated, passionate, and loved his profession. He never stopped developing his cutting techniques and people skills. Al’s forte was in his ability to effectively develop special projects to enhance production and to motivate and properly train team members. In his final role as Sr. Manager of Meat and Seafood Merchandising for Sprouts, he had the opportunity of traveling to many states along the sun belt from California to Georgia. Al’s role in this capacity stretched beyond a wide range of corporate responsibilities in the operation of meat departments in new and existing stores.
When it was finally time for Al to retire, he was ready to enjoy some well-earned time off. As a family, we would take long walks through the desert with our dogs Mr. Jack and Sophie. Al dabbled with wood working and spent quiet and reflective moments working in the yard. Together with Al, Jr., they would organize grill nights and cook up a storm of steaks, chicken, ribs, and sausage. Deep and thoughtful conversations were a common practice during these times, especially between Al, Jr. and his dad. They would often share opinions about the meaning of life, religion, politics, cars, movies, interesting people, and everything in between. Al loved music. One of our most recurring discussions revolved around Classic Rock music and other interesting genre that Al, Jr. would discover in magazines or online.
Al Sr. was an avid sports fan, especially college football and basketball. He was also loyal to the bone and a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees. His phone conversations with buddies was always a means of highly contested debates about team worthiness and who knows what. Al has always been highly competitive and this competition inevitably extended to his interest and admiration for sports and in watching the games play out.
Al had always fought hard for his beliefs, and in the same way he fought courageously for his life. He will be remembered for his kindness and unwavering love for his entire family and friends. Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered love and support during this difficult time. Al’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace my Sweet Angel.
