Albert Ray Fleck

Albert Ray Fleck (Abbie) was born on March 3, 1941, in West Decatur, Pennsylvania. Being the second son of Raymond Samuel Fleck and Alberta Ruth Bodle, he has one older brother, Elwood Glenn, and one younger brother, Doyle Lee.

He was raised and went through school in Phillipsburg, PA. Following his graduation from high school, in 1960, his family moved to Tucson, Arizona to find work. After moving to Tucson, he worked briefly at Fields Jewelers Pawn Shop and soon after went to work at the Duval Copper Mine fka Isabel.

He married Charlene Louise Hull on April 19, 1963, and they had two sons, Aron Reed Fleck, born in 1966, and David Gene Fleck, born in 1969. David sadly passed from COVID in 2021. When David married Rebecca Kersey Bowers in 1999, Abbie became a grandfather to Ashley and Cassidy Bowers, and then Sydney and Logan Fleck when they were born into the family. Aron married Kerry Lee Croft Guizzo in 2018, and again, Abbie, became an instant grandfather to Stephanie, Nick, and Nate Guizzo. Abbie’s first great grandchild, Emma Rae was born in 2018 with Kaden Jon soon to follow in 2020.

In 1977, Abbie moved his family south from Tucson to Sahuarita to be closer to work. When Duval Mine declined in copper, he went to work for San Xavier Rock & Materials, until he retired in 2003.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and family trips. He was also constantly hunting for cars and the best yard sales. After retirement he got hooked on the game of golf.

“Abbie” passed peacefully on March 2, 2024, one day before his 83rd birthday. He was predeceased by his son David. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Charlene, his son Aron and wife Kerry, daughter-in-law Rebecca, brother Elwood Glenn and wife Sandra, brother Doyle Lee and wife Jerrilee, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Abbie will be laid to rest on Friday, March 22,2024 at South Lawn Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona. Family and Friend Viewing: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Service and graveside burial: 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m. Golf Attire encouraged.
