Mrs. Alma Antonia “Tony” Anderson of Tucson, AZ died on June 25, 2024. Tony was born in Moline, Illinois to Anton & Evelyn Gustafson on July 26, 1931. She attended Roosevelt School, Coolidge Jr. High, and graduated from Moline High School in 1949. She graduated from Moline Public Hospital as a nurse in 1952.
At Moline High School, Tony was a member of the tennis team, a cheerleader, and in the school drama club.
Tony married Raymond “Bud” Anderson on July 5, 1953. They have 3 boys – Mark, Guy and Dean. As a family they enjoyed sailing, hiking, biking, skiing and camping. They sailed Lake Michigan, the Florida Keys, and even Island hopped in the Bahamas!
Tony was very active in church and Bible studies. Ray and Tony took teams of high school students to Trinidad to work at summer camps, and a team to British Columbia to build a house for a missionary family. Tony would always lead Bible studies with Nursing Students in whatever town they lived in.
Tony was preceded in death by her parents, and her younger brother Steve Gustafson, who lived in Australia. She was survived by her husband for one week.
Tony and Ray have 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
