August 14, 1934 – October 2, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Argelia “Angie” Angulo Zuñiga—our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend—on October 2, 2025, at the age of 91. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Fearless
Born on August 14, 1934, in Bamoa, Sinaloa, Mexico, Argelia was the eldest of seven children of Aristeo and Isabel Angulo. After completing school, she bravely left her small town to pursue her dreams in the United States. Traveling alone to Nogales, Sonora, she eventually immigrated to the U.S., where she built a life rooted in strength, love, and perseverance. She raised two daughters, Isabel and Argelia “RJ,” and made Tucson, Arizona her home.
Successful
Argelia built a remarkable career as a tailor, breaking barriers in a male-dominated field to become one of the top professionals in Arizona. Her talent, precision, and dedication earned her respect and admiration throughout her career.
In Service to Others
Generous with her time, talents, and heart, Argelia gave selflessly to her community. She volunteered in her daughters' and grandchildren’s schools and was affectionately known as the “salsa lady” at Fiesta, the biggest fundraiser at her parish. Argelia had a remarkable ability to connect with people—offering help, guidance, and presence whenever needed. She was truly a force for good.
Matriarch
Argelia’s favorite phrase was “It’s possible”—words she lived by and instilled in those around her. Her greatest joy was her family, and to them, she was lovingly known as Mami, Wewi, and Tapily. She was the heart of her family: a courageous leader, unwavering pillar, and true home.
