Bonita Louise Baker Allinder, “Bonnie,” beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and philanthropist, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 2, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. She was 78.
Bonita was born on September 7, 1946, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Orville and Alice Baker. From a young age, her gentle nature and kind heart set her apart. She lived a life defined by compassion, grace, and a genuine interest in everyone she met. Whether it was a lifelong friend or someone she’d just been introduced to, Bonita had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.
A true philanthropist, Bonita was deeply devoted to serving others. Her generosity was not just in what she gave, but how she gave—with joy, humility, and a spirit that touched lives in lasting ways. Her sweet presence and caring soul left an impression on every life she encountered.
Bonita loved to travel the world with her beloved husband Del, her family, and close friends—she especially cherished her girls’ trips. Together, they explored many beautiful places, with her favorites being Italy, Greece, France, Cabo, and the lush island of Kauai. One of her most unforgettable adventures was a trip of a lifetime to South Africa with her dear friend Amber, where she was delighted to see her favorite animal, the giraffe, up close and personal. Among her most treasured memories was her final trip to Kauai, which she enjoyed over Christmas with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was also a devoted pet mom to many beloved animals throughout her life, always showing them the same warmth and love she gave so freely to others.
Bonita's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her Savior and at peace in her heavenly home.
Bonita leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly: her children, Michael (Eileen) Reuss of Woodbury, MN, and Melissa (Sean) Wood of Tucson, AZ; her grandsons, John “Jack” Reuss of Minneapolis, MN, and Tory (Whitney) Wood of Denver, CO; and her cherished great-grandson, Wesley Wood, to whom she was loving known as Granny B!
While our hearts ache with her passing, we rejoice knowing there was a joyful reunion in heaven as she was welcomed by her beloved husband Del, her sister Gloria, her cousin/brother Jackie, her parents, and many friends.
A celebration of life party will be held in her honor, with details to be shared soon. Bonita’s legacy of love, grace, and unwavering faith will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
She will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
