Carmen was born in Tucson on July 15, 1940 to Atenogenes Cortez Navarro and Amada Caro Navarro and was one of ten siblings.
Carmen was preceded in death by son, Philip Bejarano and is survived by husband, Mario L Bejarano, children Michael Bejarano, (Carrie), Elizabeth Bejarano Chacon, and Marcos Bejarano, (Yvonne). She adored her grandchildren Alicia, Adan, Aaron, Diego, Mario, and Armando, and great grandchildren Wayland and Xander.
As a lifelong learner, Carmen attended the University of Arizona after raising her children. She completed a portion of her studies in Mexico City and Costa Rica, graduating with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in bilingual/special education. She went on to teach elementary school in Tucson.
Carmen was a warm, kind and loving person who will be missed by her large family and many friends. A celebration of life will be held at Grace to the Nations, 6180 E. Pima Street, Tucson, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10:30 am.
