February 13, 1966 – January 31, 2025
With a heart as vast as the open road and a spirit as fierce as the flames he fought, Casey "Caveman" Wade Curtis lived a life defined by service, love, and adventure.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Casey grew up in Scottsdale, AZ, with an unwavering sense of purpose. He attended Hohokam Elementary and graduated from Coronado High before earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University. But his true calling was always clear—he was destined to serve. Inspired by his grandfather’s footsteps, Casey pursued his dream of becoming a firefighter, dedicating over 30 years of his life to protecting and serving the communities of Scottsdale and Tucson through Rural Metro Fire. A man of courage and integrity, Casey earned the respect of his fellow firefighters and the deep gratitude of the people whose lives he saved, served, and safeguarded.
Beyond the firehouse, Casey was a beacon of strength, kindness, and generosity. His legendary bear hugs could mend a broken spirit, his wisdom was freely shared, and his laughter was infectious. Whether lending a helping hand, offering guidance, or simply showing up for those in need, Casey embodied the very best of humanity. He didn’t just touch lives—he transformed them.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Casey’s legacy continues in every act of kindness, every life he saved, and every person he inspired. He is not truly gone; his spirit roars in the crackling flames of a campfire, in the rumble of an off-road Jeep climbing the Colorado mountains, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Reunited with his beloved wife, Theresa, we imagine them now—winding through the mountain trails, soaking in golden sunsets, and sharing stories of those they love. Casey is also preceded in passing by his father, L.H. Pat Curtis; his niece and shining star, Victoria Jefferson; and his grandparents, Albert and Mildred Curtis, and Raymond and Mable Jones.
He is survived by his loving mother, Marilyn Curtis; his devoted siblings, Nancy Curtis, Pat (Noel) Curtis, and Jenni Curtis; and his cherished nieces and nephews.
While we grieve his loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived. May we all carry forward his kindness, bravery, and unwavering love for others. His journey continues in the hearts of all who knew him. Ride on, Caveman…we got it from here.
"An Irish blessing: May the winds of Heaven blow softly, and whisper in your ear, how much we love and miss you, and wish you were here."
