

Danica Smoljan, 97 years old, passed away on December 26th, 2022. Danica was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Born on July 24th, 1925 in Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Danica spent much of her life in Trebinje and Sarajevo. She married Rudolf Smoljan in 1963 and together raised Danica’s daughter, Ana and Rudolf’s son, Anto-Tonci.
Danica was an accomplished seamstress, and was known for bringing her friends and family together with her amazing Bosnian dishes and loving personality. She was the pillar of the family and was very social. In her free time, she enjoyed reading books and magazines about healthy lifestyle topics and was ready to share her knowledge with everyone. She had incredible patience, and always made time to help others.
After joining her daughter, Ana, son in law, Zoran, and grandsons, Mladen and Dragan in Tucson, Arizona, she continued with her passions. When meeting Danica, she immediately made new friends and old, feel welcome and at home. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to have had her in our lives. Her long life was filled with love, happiness and her legacy will live on through her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Ana Kozak, son in law, Zoran Kozak, grandsons, Mladen and Dragan Kozak, and their families. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the Kozak family from 2 - 4pm.
Services to celebrate Danica’s life will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 2pm at:
