David J. (Dave) Syposs, age 75, of Tucson, AZ passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 with his loving family by his side. David was born on November 14, 1949 in Buffalo, NY to the late Andrew W. and Alice L. (Eagan) Syposs. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother John W. (Jack) Syposs, and sole and precious grandson, Joshua David Syposs of Arizona with whom he shares the date they both entered Heavens gates, just 3 years apart.
Upon graduation from high school, Dave enlisted in the Air Force in September 1968 where after Basic Training, he served in Massachusetts, Viet Nam and his final duty station at Hancock Field, Syracuse, NY. In early 1972, Dave met a fellow airman at Hancock Field, and love of his life, Evelyn Sheryl Nicholas from Oklahoma and was instantly smitten. So much so, they were engaged and married within 6 weeks of meeting on March 18, 1972. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, they moved to the Town and City of Tonawanda, NY and ultimately settled in North Tonawanda, NY where they raised their family until moving to Tucson, AZ in 1998.
Dave’s employment career began with Ford Stamping Plant of Buffalo, NY. He then got his Bachelor’s degree of MIS and became the Director of IT with Independent Health of Buffalo, NY. His career took him to Tucson, AZ where he was VP of Sales with HealthTrio, a health software company, where he remained for 15 years before retiring.
After retiring, you could find Dave and Evelyn at any particular time wandering the 4 corners of the Earth. Their travels included trips to Europe (which included the countries of France, Great Britain, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Hungary, and Germany just to name a few). Their visit to Normandy was at the top of the list of their favorites. Australia was a huge favorite along with Costa Rica, Hawaii and many Caribbean cruises. They also enjoyed travels in their home country which included spending the summers in the cooler weather of their home state of NY. One thing was for sure, Dave and Evelyn had many fun adventures together and stories to tell of those adventures!
Dave enjoyed helping others and made friends everywhere he went. He loved life!!! You could always count on him to crack a great joke and do or say something hilarious. There was never a dull moment with Dave around. He loved traveling, fishing, attending summertime concerts, being with his family, friends and his Buffalo Bills. Dave enjoyed and lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all the many hearts he touched.
Dave’s family meant everything to him! He was a great husband (always attached to Evelyn like an umbilical cord), and the best father and grandfather ever. Definitely one of a kind.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Evelyn, and their two children: daughter Shannon M. Syposs and son Jonathan A. Syposs. He is also survived by his brother Ronnie (Yvonne) Syposs of Grand Island NY along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to count.
Graveside services with Military honors will be held October 16, 2025 at 10:30 am at East Lawn Palms Cemetery & Mortuary 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson AZ. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Charity of your choice in Dave’s name. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held in Buffalo, NY at a later date.
