Born March 26, 1935, in Kenedy, TX, to Juan and Francisca Cabello, he was the youngest boy among 6 siblings. He grew up in Seguin, TX, and graduated from Seguin High School. He immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force and would serve during the Korean War in the Communications field.
Dimas then went to work for the City of Tucson in the Transportation Department and would eventually become the Paint Shop Supervisor. At age of 55 he retired from The City and would live out the rest of his life partaking in the activities he loved most; watching and playing golf, watching football (especially the Cardinals), or simply hanging out with friends and family. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, camping, and driving the RV across the country. He also had a passion for cooking and was always in a relentless pursuit to concoct the perfect chili recipe that would take him to Terlingua, the mecca of Chili Cook-offs!
Ask anyone what they will miss about Dimas, and they would likely mention his quick wit and zany sense of humor, but all would agree that he will forever be remembered for being a dear friend, wonderful father and grandfather, and a loving husband.
His transition from life took place on the first day of August 2023. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Denise, daughter Trina Rivera (Sonny), son Rene Canez (Janet), granddaughter Alexis, step-grandsons Christopher and Nicholas Benson, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews in Texas and New York.
