

She is survived by her children; son Michael Cook, (Lisamarie) Cook, son Keith Foster, (Marguerita), and daughter Kimberly Foster. Grandchildren include Tia Cook, Christine Gray, Kendle Foster. Her sisters Lila Crump and Barbara Wilson (Walter).
Doris was born in Gilmer, TX and moved to Tucson as a child. She graduated from Tucson High School and later married Enlisted USAF Lowell Foster. They raised their family in Tucson, Germany and Panama City, Fl and later returned back to Tucson in 1962.
Doris was a known community activist in Tucson beginning in the 1960's through 2006. She is well remembered for being instrumental in getting street lights installed in the Western Hills neighborhood. Her many contributions and passion for "doing the right thing in the community" awarded her the acclaim of having the street "Doris Foster Lane" named after her just off Houghton Rd.
Doris is also well remembered as a jovial school bus driver for Tucson Unified School District for 20 years and advocate for public safety. She loved children and was vocal about the importance of education; inspiring everyone to challenge themselves and be fearless.
Her kindness and generosity is still remembered by First Responders and neighbors for her Thanksgiving Open House for over 20 years providing meals to anyone wanting to stop by irregardless of the time of day or night. She will be deeply missed.
Doris had many interests including carpentry and cabinet making, bad sci-fi movies, caring for her 5 koi ponds and attending church.
A memorial service for Doris will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Desert Rose Heather Cremation & Burial, 1040 North Columbus Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85711.
