Doris Sue Nelson

NELSON, Doris Sue passed away April 28, 2017 at her home in Tucson, Arizona. She was born May 19, 1940 in Hurley, New Mexico, the fourth child and first daughter of Charles Graham and Lottie Mae (nee Calhoun) Ivy. Her family moved to Albuquerque, NM where she graduated from Highland High School. Doris Sue married Roy F Nelson in December 1962 and moved to his hometown of Edwardsville, Illinois in 1965 where they raised three children. In 1979 the family moved to Tucson, Arizona and she began to work for Circle K. Doris avanced to the Store Manager position rather quickly and went on to run most of the locations on the far south side of Tucson in the Airport Area. She retired from Circle K after 26 years of dedicated service. Doris was preceded in death by both parents, eldest brother Dan (Mary) Ivy, and next eldest brother Harvey (Christa) Ivy. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roy, her oldest daughter and primary caregiver, Ivy Sue (Jose) German, her youngest child and daughter Laura Jane Sullivan (fiance' Tony Thurman) as well as her only son Michael Dean (Sally) Nelson. She is also servived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements will be performed by Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn. Memorial service will be at noon on Saturday, May 6, 2017 with her friend and sister-in-law, Reverend Dee Ivy, officiating. Interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery at the conclusion of the services followed by a brief reception in a room provided by Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn.
