Elizabeth St. John Canfield

She lived there with her parents and brother before the family relocated to Tucson, AZ when she was 11 years old with a promise of a horse.

She was passionate about horses and owned several during the years, riding into her late 70’s. She enjoyed participating in riding clubs and their events. She also enjoyed working in the flower beds and landscape surrounding her home.

She attended Tucson High School and fell in love with Robert J Canfield, son of Tucson homesteaders. The couple was married in 1952 and raised four children in their Tucson Mtn home.

Betty went to work in the office at Mary Lynn Elementary School of TUSD in 1967. She spent her entire career there, retiring in 1998.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) and granddaughter Keira Conner. She is survived by her children Kathy (Vic) Conner of Payson, AZ, Sheri Canfield, Becky (Daryl) Hiser and Bob (Cathy) Canfield, all of Tucson; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty died peacefully at home Oct 1, 2023. At Betty’s request, there will not be any services.
