A beloved brother and friend in his family and community, passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona on March 5th, 2025. He was born on June 7th, 1947, in Elmira, New York. He was a caring and loving friend to all who knew him. Frank’s faith was evident throughout his life, serving in his local church and community and during his struggle with cancer. He found his strength and peace in Jesus Christ. His love and giving was a guide, allowing his testimony to bring hope to others. His strength was drawn from knowing that he was saved by Grace through faith. He used Romans 12:1-2 as a guide for his life. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Frank graduated in 1970 from the University of Arizona with two Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration-one in Production Management and the other in Personnel Management. He served in the United States Army Reserves 8th Battalion 40th Armor for six years and was honorably discharged as an E5 in June of 1976. After college and during active reserves, he worked in the health care industry in production management in Douglas, Arizona; Ozark, Alabama and Nogales, Mexico, where he was President of the Maquiladora Association for two years. The remainder was in International Production Management in Honduras, Slovakia and China, retiring with Kimberly Clark in 2006. After retiring, he continued in production management, doing consulting work in China for three years.
Frank is preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank Milton Schoonover and Florence Marie Schoonover. He is survived by his five siblings, Marie, Dorcas, Mark, Paul and James, as well as their extended families.
Frank’s motto in life is the poem by CT Studd-“Only one life, ‘twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”
A visitation for Frank will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, at 1pm, at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2pm, with interment to follow.
