Gearld William Hawes

Jerry, as he was known to family and friends, was born on Sunday, September 18,1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After spending his early years in New Orleans on a houseboat the family moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area where he grew up and graduated from high school, got married, and started a family. The family relocated to Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and California before he and Gloria his wife of 60 years retired to Arizona.

For many years, Jerry worked in the paint industry before returning to being a machinist while in Minnesota which opened the way for him to move into management with General Dynamics, an aerospace contractor, in California.

Throughout the years he and Gloria enjoyed traveling with their family. When they retired they were free to spend more time at this favorite past time as well as time with their six grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Hawes, his parents Ralph and Bertha Hawes, and his older brother Ralph Hawes Jr. Jerry is survived by his four children, Christopher (Raihana) Hawes of Katy, Texas, Gary (Joann) Hawes of Oro Valley, Arizona, Jodi Dorson of Riverside, California, and Scott (Melissa) Hawes of Salem, Oregon; his brothers Robert (Carol) Hawes, Lloyd (Margaret) Hawes, and Timothy (Diann) Hawes; sister-in-law Solita Hawes; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his dog, Reggie.

A graveside memorial service will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery for family and friends at 9:00 am on September 16th.
