

George A. Strong was born March 31, 1947 to Archie and Veonia Strong. He was 8 out of 14 children born to his parents. George grew up believing in education and stressed its importance. He attended school in Safford and he continued his education at Pima Community College, La Salle University, and the Ambassor Bible College. George worked for the City of Tucson for 30 years.
George loved the Lord and at a young age, he accepted Christ as his savior and went about his Father’s work. He was the Sunday School Superintendent under the passage of Elder Lee Compton, Junior Pastor at Mt. Olive, and he became the assistant Pastor to Elder Compton for 15 years, finally becoming the Pastor at Gethsemane Church of God in Christ. He was also a Pastor in Safford for 20 years.
George had many names; he was affectionately called Papa, Uncle George, Brother and Friend. He was a very wise man. It didn’t matter the age of the person, he had wisdom for everyone.
George is proceeded in death by his parents Archie and Veonia Strong, his son, Brandon, his siblings, Arthur Strong, Willford Strong, Arma V. Strong, Sr., Awuldon Strong, and Gloria Jean Strong.
He leaves to morn his wife Betty Strong of 44 years, Paula Fox, Chris (Marcella) Hackworth, Johnisha Strong, Tieshia (Maurice) Jones, Shondra, Anthony Hackworth, Bryan Hackworth, Kye Hackworth, Christy Hackworth, Kim Hackworth, special goddaughter Keyshia Conner and Sterling Early. His siblings, Rayford (Lee) Strong, Sr., La Salle Strong, Early V. (Modell) Strong, Archie (Mira) Strong, Dolores (Jimmy) Washington. Fifteen grandkids and one great grandson, Sir Brashard Williams and a host of family and friends.
Live life the way that you want to be remembered. People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. George A. Strong leaves a legacy of love and HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.
