Passed away at home March 28th after a long battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents Samuel T. Marlar and Barbara Ann Marlar of Tucson, He is survived by his brother Michael G. Marlar (Vail), Niece Audrey (Phoenix) and nephew Christian (Tucson).
David was a native Tucsonan and attended both Tucson and Catalina High Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy after graduation and upon discharge attended PCC on the GI-bill. He worked jobs as an underground copper miner, railroad laborer, movie extra and livestock wrangler at Old Tucson.
David was a longtime resident of Silver City, NM where he lived with his loving friend and companion Betty Brossard until returning to Tucson in 2013 to receive medical care for his illness.
David was an avid outdoorsman, sportsman and all around adventurer. He raced stock cars and loved thoroughbred horse racing his entire life and was licensed trainer in Arizona back the 60's. He was a devout Arizona Wildcat fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys! He will be missed by his many friends and as per his request there will be no services. In Lieu of flowers and cards etc., a small donation to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PLDF) given his name. A wake will be planned to honer his life at a future date and anyone wishing to attend may contact his brother Mike for details.
