

Gilbert F. Lawson, resident of Tucson, Arizona was carried in the arms of Jesus to his eternal home Friday, October 5, 2018 at the age of 82 years old. He was born in Montezuma, Indiana July 12, 1936 to Fred and Blanche Lawson. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. He had a long career in finance from 1960 to 1994. He moved to Arizona in 1967. He was employed with Axa/Equitable Life Assurance Society from 1967 to 1994 holding several positions including President of the Western Region . He also served on Grand Canyon University’s Board of Trustees , serving as Chairman of the Board from 1988 to 1995 where he received an honorary doctoral degree. He retired from Axa/Equitable in 1994 to pursue seminary studies through Liberty University. He was ordained in 1996 and became Associate Pastor at North Swan Baptist Church serving as Minister of Education. He was a founder of Carden Christian Academy Central. He attended Indiana State University, American College, where he received his CLU, CHFC. He continued post graduate courses at Stanford and Columbia University’s. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte Ann Lawson, His sister, Judy Sue Donnelly. His children Dianna Marquez (Gary) Elaine Battock (Martin) Gilbert Fred Lawson II (MaryAnn) His grandchildren, Joseph Battock (Kathryn) Kate Marquez (Clayton Robideau)Sarah Althen (Howard) Dr. Andrew Marquez (Jennifer) Vincent Marquez, Freddy Marquez , Emily Lawson Lara (Isia) Lauren Elaine Talarico (Frankie ) Great grandchildren Brooks Bennett, Cailyn Bennett, Jonah Battock, Micah Battock, Caleb Marquez,Joshua Marquez, Silas Marquez, loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and host of long time friends. Services being held at North Swan Baptist Church Saturday, October 13, 2018. His family thank him for his Christ like example, love and devotion, hard work and excellence in every endeavor.
