THE BLESSED SLEEP
Say not that I am dead
When this mysterious temple of my soul
Shall quietly lay it's head and
Shall strain to hear the Father's summons call
That clear sweet voice that tells of labors done
Of trials ended and the victory won
Say not that I am dead
Say that I am but asleep
The spirit has returned to God who gave it life
And he shall safely keep the trust committed
And the grave shall be marked by His all seeing eye
Say that I am but asleep
Say that I am but asleep
He that believeth in me shall never die
Have we not dwelt together He and I
And neither life nor death shall separate
I live in Him my flesh in hope shall wait
Say that I am but asleep
