Gustavo M Serna, 89 entered the beautiful gates of heaven into the arms of our lord Jesus Christ on December 3, 2020 where without doubt his loving mother was waiting for him. Gus grew up in Superior, AZ for which he held a great affection throughout his entire life. He left at a very young age because he knew he was destined for great things. He traveled the world while in the US Army and would often reminisce of his time in Germany and later sharing stories during his 6 years in Vietnam working in the private sector as a structural aviation mechanic for helicopters used during the Vietnam war. Later he thrived in one of his passions which was working for Boeing and always very proud that he took part in building each one of the space shuttles for NASA as well as many other projects.
Gus was known for his dry sense of humor, but mostly for his profound sense of integrity and kindness. He helped many without ever asking for anything in return. Gustavo lived his life on his own terms and after a long and successful carrier enjoyed retirement along his loving wife and daughter. He took pleasure in reading the newspaper everyday while enjoying his morning cup of black coffee, loved his dogs very much as well as feeding his birds but most of all enjoyed his chocolates.
God’s timing is perfect even if our hearts are heavy with grief. He saw you were getting tiered and I think you knew your time was near, so He wrapped you in his arms and said come home to me. We will miss you here on earth and know you are smiling down from heaven. Gustavo is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Serna, daughters Maria Serna, Cathy Downey, Gloria Garrett and Yvonne Serna, siblings and extended family. Death takes a body; God takes a soul. Our minds hold memories, and our hearts hold love. Our faith assures us that we will meet again.
