Jackie Ray Pennington

Jackie Ray Pennington, 74, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 22, 1950, Jack lived a life full of service, laughter, and deep commitment to family and community.

As the son of an Air Force family, Jack experienced life in many places, shaping his adventurous spirit from a young age. He graduated from Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he played many sports and fell in love with playing the drums and even formed his own band, a passion that reflected his love for music and connection.

Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. His service took him from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona, to RAF Bentwaters in England, and later to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In 1988, Jack married the love of his life, Linda Pennington. Together they shared 37 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and a strong family bond. Jack was a devoted father to Jennifer Stewart, Amber Yost (Tony), Brian Pennington (Ian), and stepfather to Phil Miller (Carla), and Cherri Miller. He was a cherished brother to Teresa Simmons (Jerry) and a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two nieces and five great nieces and nephew.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Virginia Pennington.

Beyond his military service, Jack gave back to his community through his involvement with the Tucson Rodeo Committee. He began volunteering in 1998 and became a full Board Member in 2001, serving as the Hospitality Chairman. His dedication and warmth made a lasting impact on all who worked with him. Jack’s humor, generosity, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
