John L. Crawford age 84, died on Friday, December 5, 2014. He was born at home on January 14, 1930 in Los Angeles, California to Addie Belle (Curtis) and Morris R. Crawford. The third child and youngest son of four children, John was raised during the Depression by his mother whom he loved dearly. John graduated in 1948 from Excelsior High School in Long Beach, CA. John was proud of his service as a US Army combat infantryman in the Korean War where he earned two bronze stars and three purple hearts. After the war, he first attended Fullerton J.C. where he was captain of the football team and then transferred to and graduated from Long Beach State in 1957. In 1968, he became a CPA and in 1972 started his private practice in Tucson, AZ. John was always a hard worker who started young, working in a tire shop when he was 12 and continued until his illness this year made it too difficult to work. In August 2014, he reluctantly retired from private practice. John is survived by his wife, Hulda A. Crawford whose love and care sustained John for over 40 years. Left to remember him and to pass on the love he gave to them are his children, Peggy (David) Mancini, John R. (Monica) Crawford, Kari Elkins and Hulda's children, Robert (Kathy) Goodwin, Marshall (Tracy) Goodwin, Glenn (Wendy Russell) Goodwin and Helen (Ron) Munroe. Also left to continue his love and the love he shared with Hulda are 16 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren and the many people whose lives he touched. John was a sweet, loving husband and father who will be missed for his, at times irreverent humor and his unconditional love. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in John's honor to the Humane Society, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716. (hssaz.org)
