

devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and gave him peace.
Preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Rosa Yanez Sr. Johnny is survived by
his wife, Olivia Yanez. His sister Alicia Neeton and brother Alex Yanez Jr. His children,
Arturo C. Martinez, and Celia “Sally” Nelson (Darryl). Granddaughters, Michelle and
Stephanie Martinez. Along with many cousins and dear friends.
Johnny enjoyed hunting with his father and many uncles and cousins. He graduated
from Sunnyside High School in 1972. He worked as a truck driver until his
retirement. Johnny loved serving his community. He volunteered with the Tucson
Police Dept. for over twenty years. He served as an usher for St. Agustine Cathedral.
Johnny participated in many prayer meetings throughout the Tucson area. He learned
gunsmithing skills from Mr. Al Lingholm. Johnny’s talent grew in making custom stocks.
He had quite a reputation and had many customers. Johnny was a member of the
Knights of Columbus and Marine Corps League. He was also a member at the
American Legion Sahuaro Post #68, where he was utilized in leading prayer.
Johnny shared his life, love, and heart with all he met. He loved to pray for people in
need. His love for animals was contagious. His horse, Brandi Rose will miss him
tremendously. She was the apple of Johnny’s eye!
Johnny will be missed everyday. Thank you for loving God, and sharing His light with
us. Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Casa de la Luz
Hospice. We appreciated your support, compassion, and respect that you showed. May
God Bless you all.
