Jay was an amazing soul. I count myself so fortunate to call him friend.  He is rare and the world is worse off not having his light here. I suppose he was needed elsewhere.  
The love I witnessed between him and Barb proves to me that true, pure and unselfish love exists.  I wish their love story could continue. 
Kind is one simple word I would use to describe Jay and Barb. Four letters but a rare quality to find.  I am forever grateful to know them, love them and call them friends.

Damn bro, you know yo boy came to see you off 4 the last time and when I seen bro it hurt me to tears but also joy to see you in peace my dude. I gave sis a hug along with Dee and a few more of the usual suspects from the lounge. I also had your favorite stick “LIGA #9” and just thought about the memories and times we shared as friends. I was almost tempted to have a shot with it, but you know I don’t drink. I’m going to miss ya brah and that’s real. Condolences to Barb and the Hollis family from a man that many don’t know of and that’s ok. Any friends and family of Jay’s are friends and family to me too.

So… I couldn’t find the words that could express the meaning of you and your friendship until I got to talk to your truly special woman, until I watched her being so brave, and so fearless. Still I can’t believe that you are gone, but I know that in the other form you are still here, and I promise to be here for your Fam! Knowing Jay for the years I did, working at JR Rockers on Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Jay was always charming, funny, kind and a breath of fresh air every shift myself and the team got to take care of him. 
It could be the craziest, most annoying of nights, particularly football nights, but he would always make mine and many others shifts so relaxed, fun and worth it. 
The news came to me today and I am just so brokenhearted a man so kind and full of joy and laughter could be taken from us so early. 
My prayers, condolences, love and enduring respect are with him and his family at this devastating time.

I’m once again at a loss for words, Jay was not only a veteran but my also my brother and dear friend. We shared so many memories from Japan to Germany and was always one i could count on.  When  i told him i was retiring and asked him to be the master of ceremony, he said yes, without hesitation. You will be missed my brother, there will never be another like you…#RIP 🙏🏿

Jay always held a special place in my heart, I miss him so very much.   Many of us are still just trying to process this huge loss.

I knew Jonathan for a brief period while we were stationed in Germany together.  We traveled for work couple of times and we always laughed and made jokes.  Seems he left way too soon but may he rest in peace .  My condolences for his family and loved ones.

My Friend J-Holla,  so sorry family that we lost a true soldier.  Jay and I met in Japan in 2006-2007.  We shared very similar situations and often talked about the future up until retirement from USAF.  My condolences to all friends and family that had the opportunity to know him. You will  always be remembered, and close to heart my guy.

Master Sergeant (Retired) Jonathan Hollis will be sorely missed.  He was a charismatic leader and gregarious.  I worked with him at Ramstein Airbase, Germany from 2013 to 2015 and his experience/insight into any matters related to logistical planning and Contracting were highly valued across both the enlisted and officer ranks.  He was just a great guy to be around and I am fond of the memories I have of him.
