

Joseph Castellon, 80, of Oro Valley, passed away with his family by his side at Oro Valley Hospital on September 19th, 2020. Joseph was born in El Salvador on April 10, 1940 to Manuela Trejo and Manuel Castellon. Joseph graduated from university with a degree in Agriculture with an emphasis in Veterinary Sciences. In the early 1970's Joseph immigrated to United States with his children to Los Angeles, California. He started his career in the U.S by working at a Unical 76 while taking English courses at night. He later followed a lifelong passion for engineering and mechanics through a career in the aerospace industry from 1975 to 1993. During his time in this field, he was most proud of his work on the SR-71 Blackbird.
On June 5,1982, Joseph married Olga Volta Rozas at Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana in Los Angeles, California. Joseph was a long member of First Baptist Church in Lancaster, California (Grace Chapel) where he served as a deacon and elder over the years. He also assisted with a Spanish-speaking prison ministry in the Antelope Valley.
In January 1998, Joseph moved with his family to Oro Valley, Arizona, where he began working at Argus Machine, where he worked until his passing. Joseph continued in his passion for ministry by taking various roles in his church and his community. Joseph enjoyed writing music, playing guitar, gardening, but most of all, enjoyed being a grandfather.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Castellon and Manuela Trejo, and his sister Antonia Trejo. Joseph is survived by: his wife, Olga Castellon, children, Mario (Tabitha), Gloria Maria (John), Carlos, Katherine (Nick), Elizabeth (Alex): grandchildren, Gianna, Giselle, Lillian, Benjamin, Elijah, Francisco, Annika, Micah, Maksim.
The entire family would like extend their sincere thanks to the Golder Ranch Fire District Station 375, and the doctors and nurses at the Oro Valley Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism.
Visitation for Joseph will be held Friday, September 25th, 2020 at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, 500 W Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ 85704. Funeral services will follow. Due to COVID-19, attendance is limited. Please contact the family directly for further information.
