I can't believe it has been 5 years already. It seems like yesterday Ken and I first met you and our kids got married. We shared so many memories of good time and some sad times. I think about you often when I see Alfred or see  the grandkids. You are missed and I know you are dancing with the Angels up there>

While it brings sadness it also brings joy to imagine a large gathering of all of her family and friends. No doubt she earned her wings raising many young ones, and being an amazing aunt as well. Pina was loved as much as she loved others which was truly felt. I hope her brothers and sister showered her with love and the best party upon arriving to her permanent home. When you think of a hot dinner with ample food for all, you think of pina. ❤️❤️

Aunt Pina was the last of the Miguel & Josefa Riesgo legacy... As they say, 
"They saved the best of last!"  Pina was a great mother,  aunt,  great grandmother and she will be missed. 
I'm certain she was welcomed to heaven by all her family, cousins and friends that preceded her.

I miss my "Good morning Margie!  Hay café?"  I miss you telling me "I am too oldie!" I miss sitting in the living room sipping our coffee and watching our favorite cooking shows in the morning.  I miss our mini road trips and you smiling wearing my sunglasses. I miss your laugh and smile. But most of all I miss your presence. Regardless if you had a good day or a bad day you were always thankful and grateful to me. Your viejito, son and nietos will be taken care of and feed well. Thank you for treating me like your daughter and always laughing at my jokes when we were at the kitchen table eating or making fun of Alfred when he was acting insane about his Dodger or Steeler games. Rest in Peace and Paradise! Until we meet again! I love you! Your Margie!

Tapia,Terry, Alfred ,Diana: With A Heavy Heart I write today. I was blessed to have Pine as I called her in my life. She was a person that her and Tapia greeted from the time you knock on the door until you left. You knew if you started at breakfast it was an all day event.The food the love she shared the talks and would have a table with goodies...She loved family and love to see everybody...Her grandchildren where her life. You knew that you had everything you needed.The holiday the family gathering were always the best she would cook and happy to do so.Her Yankees OMG! They were her favorite. I was blessed to get to do a World Series with her. The last game now remember she would cook early and no one could bother her. She sat watch the game , knew the players, and cheered .That evening it was two outs, bases loaded. She paced up and down the hallway and was just clapping . Finally the pitcher stuck out the batter, she jump yelled and waved her Yankee flag and was the happiest person..So here comes Tapia, out of his room to see his wife celebrate ...She told him the Yankees won and he told her Gracias a Dios and laugh.I lost touch with Pina but would call until talk to her on the phone, until she could not hear me.I will miss our talks ,the advice and most of all her...I thank you for being in my life I was blessed ...May Jesus wrap his arms around her and it not good bye.Pina until we meet again ....Margie


Her smile, her hugs, and of course her cooking.  Pina’s way of welcoming people had the ability to make anyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. Pina thank you for making me “vegetarian” tamales that were all masa and olives just the way I like! Your sincere love and servant heart will always be admired. My prayers and condolences to the Tapia family. 

We loved visiting Pina and Jimmy. We were always instantly welcomed with a smile and a hug. Pina was warm, thoughtful and busy in the kitchen! She touched so many of us and gave meaning to the word “family”. May she rest in peace. Te queremos y que Dios te bendiga. 

Pina and her house were a magnet for the family and for fun. She was always cooking. When you went there you were warmly welcomed to enjoy the abundance of food, love and kindness. Pina was not just my cousin but my good friend too. I’m praying for her soul and for God to bless all of her family. Pina te quiero mucho y que Dios te bendiga. 

I was blessed to know Nana by marrying into the family. Marrying one of Nana’s grandsons, I was told how lucky I was by her often. Having no grandparents of my own, I adored the time I got to spend with her. Thank you for the legacy you left of a full home and even fuller belly.  As she always reminded me, “Dont get old, get young.” Rest peacefully Nana. 

The fondest memory and one that I hold to my heart would be Ms. Tapia cooking. Moving here from the Midwest, I knew very little about Mexican food and wasn't a fan.  That changed when I "dropped' by for a moment and ended up staying for hours sitting at the table.
I was blessed to be included in making her tamales.. I put in the olive!!  

Rest in peace and yes, ma'am I will continue to look out for Diana. (She always told me this before I left her house)

Thanks for accepting me into the family.  Thanks for showing me how to make chili (the real way), thanks for loving whatever I cooked, thanks for loving my dumb jokes, and most of all, thanks for loving me...because I love you more.  

I will miss you, but always remember and cherish the time we had together.  

Pina was my mother in law for awhile. Even though it was a challenging beginning, we ended up friends. She always welcomed her guests with delicious food and warm conversation. Pina  was the best Nana, always taking the best care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren with unconditional love. I will always be grateful for her warmth and love for not only my children, but my extended family as well.  I  love you Pina, may you rest in peace knowing you have done well by your family ❤️

We have had the privilege and pleasure of being welcomed by Jimmy and Josie and included in family celebrations ever since our son. Michael, and their dear daughter, Diana,  first began dating and then married.
What a joy it has been to know Josie!  Her enthusiasm was delightful, and it was always such fun to be around her.   She brought so much happiness to all and always made everyone feel very special.
I remember Josie being  so excited that I was Italian because Italian food was her favorite.  
A special memory we will always cherish is the honor of being invited to Disneyland to celebrate Josie’s and Jimmy’s 50th wedding anniversary.  We had such a wonderful time!  
We have been blessed to be part of Josie’s wonderful life!  She will be greatly missed, but her memory will live in our hearts forever.  Josie leaves a wonderful legacy in her family.

Josie was one of the most warm-hearted people I have ever met.  The way she and Jimmy welcomed our son, Michael, into their lives when he married their daughter, Diana, was absolutely wonderful.  The way my wife and I were also included in that welcome has been a truly wonderful experience.  
Josie’s genuine high spirits and wonderful smile will be sorely missed.  We take comfort in knowing that she has left this life a better place for those that knew her.

"Diana's Mom!" that's what I called her when I saw her. I had the honor and privilege of meeting her and getting to see her at family events like Z's Birthday parties. She always recognized me and remembered me even though we didn't see eachother often...maybe once a year.  We would talk, share, and laugh about our individual fun stories, experiences and times that came into our minds.  Our stories were individual yet we connected and laughed and enjoyed! "Diana's Mom" was a wonderful woman that will be missed,  but never forgotten.

My condolences to you and your families. We are all left with so many memories of growing up being loved, cared for and entertained by my Tia. I loved our picnics swimming at the pompitas. To growing up making tamales. Talking but mainly having fun laughing as up to 40 dozen were made. It was always a social affair not work. We will all truly miss her. I know we all have a wonderful loving Angel looking over everyone as she loved family more than anything. God bless you all and just keep her tradition going. Family love is everything. At least it was for my Tia.

Diana is our first cousin. Josie helped us to better understand the meaning of acceptance, family and love. She opened her arms any time we saw her by giving us a big hug and warm smile. It’s obvious that she touched a lot of people’s heart’s with her gentle and kind spirit. You will be missed..

We did not know Josie, but have heard a lot about her from Marty and Lee Williams ( we are long time friend of them and we are Michaels godparents). From all the stories we have heard about her she must have been an exceptional women giving great love to all. You must remember how lucky you were to have been a part of her life.
May your family find comfort remembering the joy and love she gave you.

Josie was my nana. Although, I am not one of her grandchildren. Josie certainly treated me as one of her own. She was so funny! Most of all she was a generous woman. Her beaming personality brought light to this world that will continue to shine in memory of her. 

I am a friend of Diana and Michael’s.  Whenever Josie would see me she always wanted to know how I was......and she genuinely cared.  I will treasure all the Josie hugs I got and her fabulous smile.  Go with God.

We will certainly miss our Aunt. Her lessons for all of us was in her giving to others, it was that which brought her happiness. It brings us peace to know she has made it home to join her siblings who are waiting for some great down home cooking, dancing and laughter. While our hearts are selfishly broken, we are thrilled for her and her new home. God bless the family in your sorrow, and remember all the wonderful times she gave you. 

My nana was my best friend. Making tamales and tortillas with her are my fondest memories. She was the sweetest, spunkiest, most kind hearted person. She will live on through us. 


Josie, you were an absolute dear and such a strong matriarch.  We shared some wonderful memories with you, although not enough.  Thank you for bringing so much joy and love to your family.  You are greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know you.
