On Wednesday May 25, 2022, Kathleen “Kathy” Marion Dimercurio Oliveri Triplett, our dearest mom, grandma, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and beloved matriarch of our family passed peacefully away in the arms of her daughters at the age of 92 after suffering a long illness. She was the brilliant shining star, the hope for tomorrow that held us together. We were assured that all would be well if Ma said so, for we knew her unconditional love and prayers were profound for her family. Her faith and her family were everything to our mother.
Kathy was born November 24, 1929 in Port Huron, Michigan. She graduated from St. Stephen's High School, Class of 1947. It was Kathleen's desire to become a nun, like two of her best friends and classmates, but God had other plans. In 1948, she moved to Tucson for health reasons. At the Damian Club, she met Anthony "Tony" Oliveri. They were married in 1949 and were blessed with two daughters, Nancy Rose and Toni Marie. In the early 1960’s Kathleen entered real estate as her chosen career. She became a realtor and a broker, eventually opening her own office as “Kathy Oliveri, Realtor.” Kathy specialized in commercial-investments sales and exchanging. She served as president of the Tucson Chapter, Women’s Council, National Association, vice president of the Arizona Association Women's Councils, secretary of the Arizona Association of Exchangers and president of the Tucson Real Estate Exchange Club. After Tony's death in 1969 she continued to work tirelessly to support her family. In 1971 Kathy married Ellsworth Triplett continuing her real estate career as Kathy Oliveri-Triplett.
Kathy moved to Phoenix in 1978 and began the transition to retirement, but never stopped moving. Always active in her parish life, she was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at Church. She stood in the endless Phoenix heat to see Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa, to whom she had a great devotion. In addition to her service at Church she enjoyed many hobbies and activities throughout these years.
She became an avid cyclist, cycling up to 50 miles per day. She rode 2300 miles in a self-contained bike ride from Eugene, Oregon to Pittsburg, Kansas. Kathy hiked the Grand Canyon, cross-country skied, and traveled to many National Parks across the U. S. including Alaska and Hawaii. She took art classes at the Scottsdale El Dorado Community Center, completing over 50 oil paintings, many documenting her travels. Music was always a part of Kathleen's life. She loved to sing. Her God-given operatic voice, that will never be forgotten, filled our home, Church and any event she attended including family and friends weddings. She took tap dancing classes and performed with the class at Senior Centers. Kathy was also known for her exceptional homemade baking. Never needing a recipe, she created delicious pies, cakes, cookies and treats to share with family, friends, neighbors and classmates throughout the years.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters Nancy Rose Oliveri Stephan of Tucson; and Antonia “Toni” Marie Oliveri Marine (Brian) of Chandler; her granddaughter Katrina Rose Stephan of Gilbert; brother Joseph “Pete” Dimercurio; niece Theresa, nephew Michael and their families all of Tucson. Kathy is also survived by nieces and nephews out of state and stepson, Scott Triplett of Maryland. She is predeceased in death by her husbands - Antonio “Anthony” Oliveri and Ellsworth C Triplett; her parents, Thomas Dimercurio and Rose Scandalito Dimercurio Hill; brothers Samuel and Pasquale Dimercurio; sister, Frances Dimercurio Western; and son-in-law William Stephan.
