Kevin in France 15th Anniversary (June 2015)

I am sorry for your loss Jack. You father was a very special person.

Over 40 precious years have passed since I first met, then quickly became friends with, Kevin at KU A+UD.  My standout memory will always be Kevin's smile -- like a Cheshire cat -- that thinly veiled the wicked humor residing just behind his eyes.  Studio, class or a Friday night out ... Kevin lit up the room! That will never change.  Blessings on a life well-lived and for the everlasting love of family & friends you leave in your wake. You reside forever in our hearts.  Peace.

    I worked with Kevin at GDA and I consider myself blessed to have been a part of his team. He was funny, generous, kind and a very warm-hearted person.
So many wonderful memories of Kevin. Truly saddened by this loss. My deepest condolences to all of the family. I will always remember him with love, respect and gratitude.

Kevin and a tight knit group of a dozen or so other students first met in January, 1974 at KU.  All of us were refugees from 2 years of pursuing other degrees after HS (work, military, history, accounting, etc.) and all of us decided to bravely start over as first year architecture students.  That spring semester catch up class was INTENSE: 4 hours a day of studio together times 5 days a week, followed by countless hours long into the night designing to loud music (Zappatects) with occasional breaks at Potter's Puddle or the roof of Marvin Hall.  

That same group continued to share 4 life-shaping years bound together as a single family with a few more fresh recruits.  We studied, partied, commiserated, camped and traveled together.  After graduation, Kevin and Paul Maute moved to Dallas.  I followed 6 months later and these were my roommates for several more years as our fledging careers took wings.  In Dallas we learned to sail when Kevin & Paul's boss needed warm bodies to sail his boat in regattas on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons for months on end.  Never mind that none us knew how to sail, but we learned quickly and actually did pretty well by the end due to teamwork learned from years of already working together.  On a Brazos River float trip Kevin tipped our canoe first thing Saturday morning.  A few minutes later the super cold water trapped inside his wetsuit caused him to pass out right above a rapids.  We were in the water again.  That was the only time I ever tested my lifeguard skills as I pulled him to shore and up a steep muddy bank.  He eventually regained consciousness and his lips faded from bright blue to red.  

To all those who knew and loved Kevin, I extend my deepest sympathy for your loss.  A piece of my heart has been yanked out, too.  He was a part of my DNA and will be forever remembered fondly and with the greatest of respect.  I miss you.

I didn't know Kevin personally, but he was certainly influential in the Tucson architectural community.  Thank you, Kevin.

Kevin was part of my group of college friends and all my memories of him include that unforgettable smile and lots of laughter.  I am glad to know he is now at peace.                         Debra M. Wilde

I knew Kevin in architecture school at KU in the 1970s, he was one of a close circle of friends who shared the joys and pain of that rite of passage, surviving, and eventually thriving in a field we loved. We aimed to make the world a better place, idealists in an era of long hair,  old jeans, Ant Farm, and Cadillac Ranch. Our bond still resonates for me, it shaped my life and I am broken-hearted by his passing. The lights have dimmed a bit.   

My many memories include Kevin's rock and roll music in studio, frequently showing up latest, ready to rev it up and work till dawn, full tilt, no holding back. And a lovely trip we all shared to Columbus Indiana, sleeping in tents and exploring churches and schools by Saarinen and Weese. 

I saw Kevin with Paul Maute a few years ago at an AIA convention, slimmed down from  cycling, short hair, and that same contagious humor. He was so happy and a beacon of health. I am very sorry for the loss his wife, children, and siblings are feeling, it must have been very hard. He is healed now, at least it seems to me that memories are like that, our loved ones are whole again, the difficulties gone. Surely Kevin is at peace, dancing, and singing to rock and roll in heaven.

In school, I thought Kevin knew things, he'd been places, and was just enough older  3 years! - for me to consider him wise. Kevin, you were a gentle soul, kind through and through, thank you for welcoming me into the clan. We had good times, so many. You helped me grow up. Love, hugs,  and prayers to all of Kevin's family.  He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.  I will never forget his famous rock collection and the "special ones" we shared at TMC.

I learned so much about the practice of architecture from Kevin, and will always be grateful for that.  But he considered his greatest successes to be his two wonderful kids and his happy marriage to a woman he adored.  And wherever he is, a bicycle awaits for a long endless ride....

To Sheila and the entire Morrow family: on behalf of my entire family "The Parker's" (Sharon, Paul, Jane, and I); we send our deepest heart felt sympathy to all of you. Kevin was a shining star in the Minisa St neighborhood. We have so many fond memories of him both in the "hood" and at the IHSC swim pool. May God give all of you comfort. His memory will never fade. We were blessed to have him as our friend and neighbor.

My deepest sympathies to Cheryl and the entire family.                   Kevin was way too young and this is so sad.  Kevin was a great guy with a huge heart and love for life.

To the wife of the most fun loving and "enthusiast" dancer on the floor! Pacesetters would not have been the same without you and Kevin there that year. What fun! I am SO proud of you, your strength and and the beautiful years you and Kevin shared. You will always be family....

I will never forget the trip to Philmont Scout ranch with Kevin and his dad.  What a great experience for a 14 year old.  I still have the picture that was taken upon our arrival in New Mexico.  Boy Scouts and our Cattholic education helped shape us both.

Kevin was a neighborhood (Indian Hills) boy who was a little older than I was but I know he had lots and lots of neighborhood friends.  He WAS funny.  Kevin will surely be missed by many.  Sounds like he lived a pretty great life!!

I knew Kevin when we were in our teens and belonged to the same swimming pool, Indian Hills, in Wichita, KS.  The last contact I had with him was when we were that young. He was as kind, caring, and jovial then as he has been described now and throughout his entire life. I am very, very sorry to hear about his passing, but trust he is at peace and soaring now as he once did in his young life. I will keep his family in my heartfelt prayers as they mourn the loss of a wonderful human being.

I met and worked with Kevin when he first moved to Tucson to help Paul Congleton develop some projects, and worked with him over the years many times.  Always a pleasure.  Then our mutual bicycle interest pulled us closer together.  I will miss him.

I knew Kevin from when we were little kids.  We all belonged to the same swimming pool, Indian Hills!  So many years of wonderful fun memories of Kevin. It is with great sorrow to know Kevin has passed. But also with joy knowing he has a new body & mind with Christ.  Many held you close in their hearts & will continue to until we meet again. Rest in peace my sweet friend. Our deepest condolences to all of the family.
