This seems to be a good memory and photo to begin this interactive memorial.  It speaks to Las’ adventurous spirit and enjoyment of life and nature.  This was in Colorado, high up in the Rocky Mountain National Park and was a spot where risk-takers would hold up food - pretty soon a large bird would fly by, taking the food, and hopefully leaving your hand alone.  Of course Las was up for it, and I was able to capture the memory.  It was somewhat scary and very exciting! I’m glad to have the photo.

I’m including this memory because it’s the last photo I think we had taken, and is such a good occasion to remember.  My brother, Alan and his partner, Robyn were visiting from West Australia, and we are at Tohono Chul tea gardens, eating outside on the nature-filled patio.  Their visit was just one step ahead of the pandemic, with restaurants about to be closed.  Alan and Robyn had to cut their visit short, as the Australian government called all citizens home - that week was the last for any flights to be allowed into Australia - just as well they took that seriously! They would have been stuck here for 18 months otherwise!
The next day, all restaurants in Tucson closed.  Las was still feeling quite well and happy, so a good memory to enjoy💕

I was excited to find this photo and remember the occasion.  Utah was getting better snow than Colorado, where we were living, so we drove up into Wyoming and crossed the State to where we could head south into Utah, a further distance, but less time since driving across Colorado meant crossing the Rockies.  This was at Snowbird, last run of the day on tired legs.  If you’ve ever skied there, it’s at 11,000 feet, and difficult.  Las enjoyed the ski from the top of the mountain to the base far more than I did!!

Las and the boys on one of our memorable ski trips, this one to Snowbowl outside of Flagstaff, Arizona.  An incredible amount of snow for skiing and enjoying.  We always skied until the last possible runs of the day.

This was a fun trip we took up to Victoria Island, Canada, our first trip to visit with my English friend, Jenny and her equally British husband, Chris.   We are here with them and Jenny is holding 2 1/2 year old Tristan.  We also met up with our Colorado friends, Joanne, John, and their son Scott,  to make it a special time of forever memories.
Jenny and I were both expecting, just to make it an even more amazing memory.

This memory comes from the years when we enjoyed camping trips to an area outside of Silver City, New Mexico.  We would explore the Gila River and the cliff dwellings, and hike out from the camp grounds at Cherry Creek.  Here we’re on one of our hikes - good memories.

This memory goes way back to when we were living in Beaverton, Oregon.  Tristan and Tara were approximately 5 and 2, and we decided to have an adventurous trip up to Victoria Island, Canada,, by bicycle with attached kid seats! We drove to Bremerton, Wa. and took our bikes onto the ferry, leaving our car behind.  We visited my friend from London, Jenny, her husband Chris and daughter, Sarah - same age as Tara.  Of course it was raining!!  Nevertheless it was a fun and memorable adventure, and we loved Victoria and even enjoyed a cricket match.  The photo was as we were preparing to leave our house for the trip.  We loved that house and lived there for 5 years.

In 1975 Las and I traveled to Australia to spend time with my mother, following the death of my father.  We enjoyed the road-trip to Vancouver, Canada where we picked up a charter flight to Sydney.  Introduced Las to Aunts and Uncles, cousins and friends, before moving on to Brisbane.  It was a therapeutic time with Mum, and a pleasure to share social times with aunts,  my grandmother, cousins and friends. This photo I’m sharing is with my friend and former flat mate at Coogee, Kay,  and her then boyfriend, Graham, who took us on a memorable road-trip all around south-eastern Australia, including Sydney,  the Snowy Mountains(it was ski season) and down to  Melbourne, where we enjoyed visiting my friend, Diane, historic Melbourne, and a night-time observation of penguins coming ashore to lay eggs💕.  In the photo,  we’re out to dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf, a local “must-eat-at” in coastal Sydney during that time. Good times indeed.

Building with Brio wooden trains has been a tradition which Las and I started when Tristan was 1 year old, with his first set.  The tradition has continued with our children and grandchildren, with Las always in the middle of it all.
My photos show him with Tristan as a child creating lay-outs and then with a grown Tristan with Lucas and Nicholas working on the possibilities.

Over all the years we enjoyed vacations in San Diego.  Our holiday memories go back to when our children were little, through to more recent years where our children are grown and they and the grandchildren come too.  We have loved our beach stays, as well as harbor, downtown,  and Balboa Park times.  I’ve included photo memories of Las with our young ones, and he, Tristan and Jennifer with Halie (back to the camera) and Lucas, plus one with Tristan and a teenage Shannon and little Lucas. I think we were waiting for a harbor cruise.    I need to find one with Tara and the other three.  The area holds wonderful memories for the family.  I hope they continue the tradition, of course.

Las is goofing off at Tristan and Jennifer’s  wedding with little Noah, Tristan looking on,  and also with Lucas.  It was such a joyful day , with good memories.

We were on our way down to San Francisco from Oregon to meet up with my friend, Diane, visiting from Australia.  Stopped for a break from the long drive  in the Grass Valley area of California. Las with Tristan, probably 1978.

I was Laszlo's next door neighbor at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT.  in 1966.  We were on the 9th floor of Hedges North (as best as I can recall).  He was a good friend.  We used to play pranks on one another. I often went down to the telephone with him when he talked with his family just to listen to the lyrical sound of him talking in his native language.  It looks as though he had a good life.  My condolences to all of his family.

I remember the last reunion when we shared the breakfast at the B&B (the old St. Paul rectory). Laszlo and I were good friends all through high school.  We were in many classes together, including Physics and Calculus senior year. I spent many hours with him and Frank engaged in fascinating conversations that at times would extend to traditional customs and history of Hungary. I was looking forward to seeing him again at the reunion, but Fate had other ideas.  RIP.

Laszlo sat in front of me in all classes for 4 years at Anaconda Central High School.  I was entranced by his by name, quiet demeanor, and, of course,  his smarts.  I have often wondered where he went and what he did in life.
I have truly enjoyed reading his friends' memories and viewing the photos of his younger and older years , and once again seeing his parents.  It is truly fun to see that he was a such a free spirit of the 70s.
Thank you for sharing these memories with so many others who  knew that he was a special gift.

I extend my deepest condolences to Lazlo's family and to you, Frank during this most difficult time. Lazlo was a wonderful friend and classmate when we were growing up & I will always remember him fondly, even though we have not seen each other since our high school graduation; I regret that. I marveled at Lazlo's intelligence and demeanor - he only had good things to say about everyone and he was always willing to help anyone who was in need of that. I have included Lazlo and you, his family in my prayers. May he rest in peace. You & the world have lost an absolutely exceptional man.

Dear Cassandra and family we were so saddened yesterday to hear about Laszlo at our class reunion meeting.  I’m so glad that you got in contact with Kathie and she was able to share the news. Laszlo was such a respectful person to me in our days at Saint Peters and Anaconda  Central high school. We also enjoyed him when he came to our 45th and 50th class reunion. My late husband Larry Puccinelli thought the world of Lazlo.  I remember the great visit and them sharing memories ♥️  

Having a little trouble uploading this memory, so I’ll try again.  Found this photo from a road trip around the west of the US, summer of 1973.  We searched and found Las’ friends in remote Montana - back of photo reads “Skunk Gulch, mining claim - glad you found us”  We drove from California through Utah, Colorado, Wyoming,  to Montana - where they’d graduated together from Montana State University. Then we located my friends from travels in Europe, living in Spokane, Washington,  before returning to Hermosa Beach, Ca. - all in an old VW camper van. Lots of fun and adventure!

I met Las when he started working at Hughes Aircraft in Los Angeles.  In addition to being Electrical Engineers, we were also interested in tennis.  It's been so long ago I don't remember all of the details but I'm sure were great players.  In 1978 the Dudas family came to the McCracken home in San Jose, Ca.  Apparently, big hair was in style.

I just found this picture and decided to share it.
At my work, we all knew who this mug belong to. I know it is an old mug and once I asked Las "Let me clean it for you! It will be like a new!" - 'Nah, better stay this way.  I have so many memories with it"-he replied.
I have also many memories that bring Las's presence to my mind. ...Like this one.  I guess this makes Las special. At least to me. 

Well, I might not have chosen this pic.  and memory as the opening for Las’ obituary, but actually it just might work out well.  It’s also the final posting, I think ...  As with quite a few of the pics. I have shared, I found it in a box, and it brought great memories.  It really speaks to who Las was.  Although he was a part of many beach vacations.... that was to please his wife and children.  He loved the mountains.  
This photo was taken and developed by Las’ brother, Frank, who was visiting us.  We’re with our friends, JoAnn and John.  We’re high up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, cooking over a fire by a stream, probably 1975, before children.    We were thoroughly enjoying our ‘Rocky Mountain High!”  Yes,  and John Denver’s music was a big part of our lives in those years.  Although that song was at the center of our moving to Colorado, it’s his Poems and Prayers and Promises which has been in my head while I’ve shared these memories....  
Poems and prayers and promises, things that we believe in, how sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care.  How long it’s been since yesterday,  and what about tomorrow - what about our dreams and all the memories we share.....💕

For a few days before our wedding we enjoyed meals either at our friends’, Barb and Don’s elegant dining room or at our totally inelegant kitchen table, as our various guests arrived from around the world - literally.  I decided to include a photo from our kitchen table.😆

I was thinking about the family and friends who were willing to travel up into the mountains of Colorado with us to celebrate our simple, home-spun wedding in 1974, and decided to include a photo of some of them.  These wonderful folks came from Australia, Boston, southern California, Tucson, and a few places  around Colorado.  It wouldn’t have been the same without them.

I found this photo in a box yesterday.  It brought back so many memories, that I decided to include it.  We’d come out to Tucson to celebrate our engagement with Las’ family, and to make plans to spend a couple of months with them.  We planned to add an extension to their guest cottage, to house their mineral collection, while practicing our DIY skills for the future.  We also wanted to enjoy Tucson while waiting for Spring, to make our move and drive to Colorado with our few possessions in tow.  These were enjoyable times to remember.  Oh what adventurers we were😀

I have many fond memories of Las before you move to Tucson. I remember coming to your home and Tristan and Brian playing together. I remember your kindness and warmth when we would visit.
When you move to Tucson, we would frequently visit your home when we were there. You always expressed interest in our family and our kids, and showed great kindness to us on our visits.

I am so sad to hear of Laz passing. 
Cassandra and I go back to the 60’s. That’s right the 1960’s. 
We were lucky enough, along with our friend Diane to be thrown together to work in a government position. 
Of course through the years we have stayed close - allowing for life to get in the way, as it does. 
Myself  and my family made it to Tucson twice. 
I had such a fondness for Laz. He and Cassandra were the perfect fit. They were completely in balance. We all had so much fun together with our five children. 
In amongst the crowd though, I loved to just sit a talk with Laz - I remember that fondly. 
They world would be such a different place if there were more of his kind in it. 
Now we’re are left with memories. 
To Cassandra, children and grandchildren - you have been truly blessed to have had Laz in your life. And I am blessed to have known such a kind, caring and thoughtful man. 
My thoughts are with you all. 

Well, I have posted a variety of memories and photos, in  no particular order, and I believe I need to post a more recent photo(from Christmas) which includes the grandchildren.  Las had recovered from major surgery, but we didn’t yet know about the cancer, so the mood was jovial.  Only one son is missing - Shannon, who lives up at the ski resort above Lake Tahoe.  I’m sure he’ll be OK with that, since he’s in a lot of the pictures I’ve posted anyway.

This one is in our dining room, after Christmas dinner in the evening, and I apologize that Jennifer and Noah are in a shadow at the front.   It was a fun time to remember.

Las taught all of us to ski.  Before children, we skied all over Colorado, plus Oregon, California, Utah and Wyoming.  His mother made his first skis from wood in the backyard when he was a kid.
This photo was taken at Red River, New Mexico,  teaching grandson Lucas.  Fun memories indeed!

I chose this particular pic. to show how simple and hands-on everything was.  We’d chosen this little village on the outskirts of the Rocky Mountain National Park, and the non-denominational log cabin chapel there.  A friend of ours, a chaplain from Colorado University, officiated.   I made and embroidered Las’ shirt and also my dress.  Las created  my headpiece, and our friends closed their Inn for the day to have the reception there - we all walked there from the chapel.  My mother made the cake, and my father decorated it (a particular talent of his).   The bill for the festivities was  under $200!  My father was pleased!  We also invited the whole village, and welcomed some interesting strangers, including German tourists, who loved it!  Well, it was the 70’s afterall😆

Well, I decided to include a couple of wedding pictures which have some special memories.  This one I like because the tiny chapel, way up in the Rocky Mountains, was a log structure and the wooden stairs felt a bit precarious - I remember we decided it wouldn’t be good to take a tumble, so we slowly and carefully descended .😆

I chose this photo because it was taken by Tristan, age around 8.  I think he captured our laid-back vacation, camping at beaches from south of San Diego to north of Santa Barbara.  This photo is at the mission in Santa Barbara.

My deepest condolences to Las’s family during this difficult time. I worked with Las in the same office. We usually stayed long after-hours, since we both liked this time. I have had many conversations with Las, as we usually started with engineering themes, but sooner one of us was telling some story. Las was always helpful and wise on many topics. 
I will never forget his face when I would approach him and say something in Hungarian, which I had memorized a minute ago from the Net. Las would frown for a while, but sooner he would smile with “Alex, are you checking my Hungarian?”, to which we both laughed. 
I know Las as a quiet person, who often stayed out of the limelight. But he was a person with high professional and human values. I was lucky to have been touched by him. I will miss him.




    My sincere condolences for the Dudas family in this difficult time! Las was a good friend to me at Dataforth, always smiling and cracking his corny jokes! When he retired, the office truly felt his absence. 
    Las was always willing to try to explain things to me when I asked questions (even though his explanations went way too far into detail and lost me most of the time!)
     He loved his work, and it showed-whenever a customer needed his help he jumped to the chance & sometimes his emails to the customer looked more like a novel! They always replied back how helpful he was! 
     Las and I worked on Dataforth's FAQ's-all of those questions have been asked by someone that he has helped, and the answers are his. 
ps-Las had some of the smallest writing I've ever seen-boy, he wrote small!  
     We are all so lucky to have known you Las. Rest in Peace.

This is an old photo, bringing back good memories.  At Las’ parents home, Christmas 1983.  I chose to include it because of the adults present - Las,  me,  Las’ mother, Charlotte;  my mother, Phyllis;  Las’ dad, Laszlo; and in front, Las’ sister, Csilla.  So unusual to have us all there together celebrating Christmas.  And yes, I’m the only one of those adults still alive😕

my condolences to our traveling buddies Mrs. Cassandra,  my Special friend Tara and the boys.  I can imagine what you are going thru.   losing a dad is one of the hardest things to go thru. I still imagine him going to performances to watch his daughter dance her little heart out.  Mom  Cassandra always  had  her back  and  traveled with ballet Folklorico la Paloma to  Australia and new york.  Mr dudas you will always be in our heart every day. you are now free of pain.  say hi  to my mom and dad and a special hug to lincoln for my friend Tara.  you are all in my prayers
